Years ago, it became apparent that lots of parents in the swimming community were concerned about their children being burned out. I didn’t really understand it much, so I decided to ask an expert for their opinion.
I attended an event where I came across a thought leader in the swimming world, so I raised these concerns and asked for his thoughts on the topic. And his response surprised me.
He told me that burnout didn’t exist. I listened to this leader, and I agreed with him. I believed this for a while, and I even did a podcast episode about it. But my friend, I was wrong. Burnout is real.
I invite you to challenge your current views of burnout, what you think it means and what it actually is. Do you allow for replenishment for others and not for yourself? Do you take care of yourself the way you should?
In this episode, I’m sharing my learnings over the years and a new way to look at burnout. I’m exploring what you can do to replenish yourself before you get to burnout, and where to start when it comes to taking care of yourself to avoid burnout.
