Many of my clients only want to go up to bat in their life if they are guaranteed a home run.
Sound familiar?
Instead of thinking you should hit a home run every time you step up to bat in your life.
Remind yourself that a great baseball player hits 30% of the time.
Of course they’d love to hit a home run every time they are up to bat.
But that’s not what happens.
There’s a tremendous challenge to hitting a baseball.
Just like the challenges you have in your life.
Stop waiting for the perfect home run opportunity.
Instead, step up to bat in your life.
Take a swing.
Be willing to miss the ball.
Take another swing.
Be willing to miss again.
Learn + adjust for the next swing.
When you miss, don’t beat yourself up.
Instead, ask yourself what you can learn from your at-bat?
When it’s your time to go back up, take your swing again.
Continue taking your swings.
This is your practice.
Commit to obtaining your goal.
Let yourself fail.
Go back and take another swing.
The way you hit a home run is by taking many at-bats over your lifetime.
No need for the perfect home run opportunity.
Instead, show up in your life, step up to the plate and swing your bat.
Hit the ball or not and LEARN from it.
Keep going.
You will hit the home run over time.
You will feel proud of yourself.
You will know inside what it really took to achieve this.
There’s not a better feeling when you hit a home run in your life after many at-bats.
Just don’t wait for the perfect home run opportunity.
You must show up daily and take your swing.
