Being a parent is not for the faint of heart. Many of us find that parenthood isn’t the fairytale sold to us by our culture, and when it really gets hard, we tend to ask ourselves a lot of the same questions: Am I doing it right? Will I damage my kid? Am I a bad parent?
Asking ourselves these questions never helps. The key to parenting is having compassion for ourselves.
Parenting is hard. For many of us, it’s the most vulnerable we’ll ever be in our lives. A lot of us make martyrs of ourselves by sacrificing our own wants and needs to take care of everyone around us. We often fail more days than we succeed, but we can’t let that discourage or shame us.
I invite you to channel your compassion into the courage you need to be confident that you’re doing the right thing. That confidence is essential to parenting the way our children need us to at every stage of their lives.
In this episode, I will share with you the importance of using your values to pilot your parenting style and how to make decisions by loving yourself. Hear my own struggles with parenting at every stage of my children’s lives and learn all of the lessons I have about moving forward with confidence and self-care.
