Yes it’s the 21st Century, but sexism in the workplace still lives on. My friend Karen and I were spending time together in Texas and we had a conversation about this topic. Then and there we decided that we should talk about it on the podcast and that it might be time for me to share my story.
Karen Walrond is a leadership coach, speaker, author, and photographer. She is the author of several books including The Beauty of Different: Observations of a Confident Misfit, and the upcoming book The Lightmaker’s Manifesto.
Karen joined me for a time as a guest co-host on How She Really Does It. In this episode, which originally aired in 2016, we discuss sexism in the workplace. We’ll share our stories of sexism in the workplace as well as ways to discover who are the people who matter in our lives.
This episode was the first time that I publicly shared my story of experiencing sexism in the workplace. I shared it not to verbally vomit on everyone who hears it, but to help you understand that you are not alone if you are going through this or if you know someone who’s going through it.
As I share my story in this conversation with Karen, she gives valuable insight from her time as a lawyer. Listen in to hear us expand the conversation into the areas of relationships with others, hustling for worthiness and approval, standing in your values, why I don’t say “I’m proud of you” to my athletes, and more.
