We have been conditioned to view this as the ideal path for our lives: work hard, be an excellent student, do lots of extracurricular activities/sports, get into a top university, which will then get you the job you want, which will then provide the lifestyle you want.
That is my guest Pat Flynn’s story – but with several twists thrown in. He got the coveted job as an architect, but he was later laid off. Architect jobs were impossible to find at the time, so he embraced his fear of the unknown and bet on himself. He now makes an incredible living and is able to do it from home while living in line with his values for both his family and his work.
Pat Flynn owns several businesses. One of his businesses is Smart Passive Income, a well known website where he has built an online community as well as amassed over 3 million listeners to his podcast of the same name. Pat is the author of his book Let Go.
In this interview, which originally aired in 2013, I spoke with Pat about doubt and fear and how he stopped those two things from getting in his way. We talk about mental resistance, why it’s okay to fail, the importance of building relationships, and more.
As you listen to this episode I invite you to examine where doubt and fear exist in your life and how they might be holding you back. Try your hand at implementing some of the strategies we discuss in this episode so that you can move through doubt and fear and work towards achieving your goals.
