The obstacles of boundary setting with Laura Boyd

How She Really Does It with Koren Motekaitis | The obstacles of boundary setting with Laura Boyd

Boundaries are such an important part of my life, but that’s not the story for everyone. I’ve worked for years to develop the skill of dealing with the discomfort that comes up around outlining priorities and establishing them. And it wasn’t easy. But getting clear on your responsibilities and bravely establishing boundaries will make a huge impact in your life.

My guest co-host this week is Laura Boyd, who sees so many of her clients having real difficulty implementing boundaries, always to the detriment of the individual. We recently discussed The Great Resignation together, and this topic actually ties in very closely.

Laura Boyd has spent over 25 years working with organizations to help them develop sustainable growth, both as organizations and the people within them. And she’s here to share her thoughts and play devil’s advocate around the difficulties she sees people coming up against when it comes to setting boundaries in professional settings.

Whatever it is that you need to set boundaries around, this episode is essential listening. There are so many things that prevent us from setting and maintaining boundaries in our personal lives. And this problem is only exacerbated when it comes to our professional interactions.

Tune in this week to discover why setting boundaries can be so uncomfortable, but that it’s nothing compared to the discomfort you’ll experience if you never have proper boundaries in your life. Laura and I are discussing the cost of avoiding boundaries, how to decide what you want your boundaries to look like, and how to deal with the discomfort of enforcing those boundaries.
