I love this quote by Dolly Parton …
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”
Our biggest fear is if someone really gets to know us, they’ll realize we aren’t really good enough + they won’t like us.
So the easy thing is to become who you think other people want you to be.
But … how’s that working for you?
When I tried to BE who others wanted me to be, I couldn’t trust myself.
How could I trust myself when I thought there was something deeply wrong with me?
My lack of self-trust slowly led to hating myself.
You can see the downward spiral this path takes.
Instead take Dolly’s advice: “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”
Get to know yourself.
Know and own all parts of you.
I guarantee you that YOUR people will connect with your flaws and actually see your beauty in it.
When I really get to know people — ALL parts of them — I love them more, and it’s usually because of their flaws, not their so-called perfections.
When people only are who they think I want them to be, I don’t trust them because they don’t trust themselves, so there’s distrust in the air.
When people let me into their struggles I see their humanness and know we all have struggles.
Be YOU and BE YOU on PURPOSE!
smiling,
