I didn’t want to waste the time..
Because I had a belief I needed to get home.
But, did I really not have some time???
I wanted to go and explore.
I didn’t have to be home.
I had the freedom. I had the time. I had the white space.
I gave myself permission to alter my plans.
I changed my plans to what felt better.
Often I say to my clients, if not this…then something better.
We often cling to THIS … because it’s known.
But when we let go … we open up the possibility of finding something better.
What unfolded was a day to reconnect with ME after several busy, busy months.
While I had plans to go to Sacramento to work at my favorite coffee shop – Pachamama …
I found a new coffee shop in the Central Valley, in Merced of all places.
I connected with the locals about their community.
I explored the newest UC (University of California) campus.
I talked with students to learn about their educational experience + future plans.
I explored Lake Yosemite (I never knew there was a lake next to the campus).
I found a bridge.
I took a photo.
To me the bridge represents new beginnings.
Take a step.
Explore.
Nothing is wasted.
You will find more of what this world has to offer.
Do something different.
Had I stuck to “my plan” I would have missed out on the adventure I took.
In the end … I learned … I had not wasted any time.
Instead I gained connection with me.
I’m so grateful I listened to the voice inside that told me to stay, explore + connect.
It was worth every minute.
Afterwards … I was so energized I went back to that coffee shop in Merced and wrote for a few hours before heading back home.
I’ve come home refueled.
I’ve come home with work done.
I didn’t waste any time.
I gained so much more with my detour.
smiling,
P.S. Make sure you take time for yourself. It won’t be wasted!
