I’m an idiot.
I’m dumb.
I’m such a loser.
I’m sure you can add to the list of critical thoughts you tell yourself over and over and over again, every hour of every day.
What’s your intention with these mean things you’re saying to yourself? A better YOU?
We’ve been culturally programmed to believe criticism is the path to becoming the human you want to be.
HA!
We’ve been culturally programmed to think shame is the way to change your behavior.
HA!
I’ll let you in on a little secret my friend.
Neither of these are the path to becoming the human you want to be or the way for you to change your behavior.
In fact, this cultural programming allows self-hatred to flourish and is keeping you stuck in your life.
Please stop this self-criticism.
I don’t care if this is how your girlfriends, colleagues, and/or family members do it.
There’s a better way.
Instead, be compassionate.
Decide on one area you want to improve on:
- Increase one of your strengths.
- Improve one of your flaws.
This, my friend, will lead you down the path to changing your behavior + becoming the human you want to be.
smiling,
