Jen Louden: Friendships + Belonging + Loneliness [Wisdom Wed]

Outdoor photo of Jen Louden smiling with text overlayed: "Jen Louden: friendships + belonging + loneliness"

She helped start the self-care movement with her first book, The Woman’s Comfort Book. She’s written five more books, including A Year of Daily Joy and The Life Organizer that have inspired more than a million women in 9 languages. Many of you may have seen Jen when she sat on Oprah’s couch talking about the power of retreats.

In this conversation from 2015, Jen and I talk about friendships and belonging. Who better to talk about friendships than Jen Louden, who has lead thousands of women?

Social media and increased access to instant connections affect the way that we show up in our friendships. We sometimes get into “default mode” and get stuck making a lot of surface level interactions without deep connection.

Jen and I ask the questions: How do I want to be a friend? What kind of friendships do I want to have? What effort am I willing to make for those friends?

Answering those questions for yourself will help you gain clarity about what you want from friendships, but another piece of this is our own perception.

The stories we tell ourselves about friendships and belonging often get in our way. Listen in to learn a few strategies to change these limiting beliefs.
