<p>At 10 years old Ryan Jones had spent a few years breaking records, qualifying for All-Star teams, and was a &#8220;living legend&#8221; in his town, Davis.</p>
<p>At 31 he still holds many records, some are 23 years old.  He was part of many successful high school water polo and swim teams and then left Davis for a scholarship to the University of California.</p>

Coach Diane Hunter teaches leadership.  Diane’s classroom can be a round pen with horses where she teaches her clients how to lead from their core and connect with their inner guidance system .  She also teaches parents how to use these leadership skills to lead their own children and let go of the resistance and battles with our children.  Diane not only teaches these skills but also practices this daily as she parents who pre-verbal son who has autism.

<p>Following the interview I asked Professor Dweck &#8220;What is the relationship between possessing a growth mindset and success as an entrepreneur.&#8221;  Professor Dweck responded:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;in my book I have a chapter on business and leadership in which I analyze the characteristics of successful leaders: the desire to take on challenges (as opposed to the desire to feed one&#8217;s ego), the desire for honest feedback (as opposed to the flattering feedback), the ability to face problems and setbacks and remain effective (as opposed to denying problems or blaming them on others), the desire to have great people on your team (as opposed to being threatened by others&#8217; talents).  These qualities are especially important in times like these, and each is a characteristic of the growth mindset.  Recent research has examined this directly, examining business people who had breakout results with a new idea or product.  The major thing they shared was a growth mindset.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

&#8220;&#8230;in my book I have a chapter on business and leadership in which I analyze the characteristics of successful leaders: the desire to take on challenges (as opposed to the desire to feed one&#8217;s ego), the desire for honest feedback (as opposed to the flattering feedback), the ability to face problems and setbacks and remain effective (as opposed to denying problems or blaming them on others), the desire to have great people on your team (as opposed to being threatened by others&#8217; talents).  These qualities are especially important in times like these, and each is a characteristic of the growth mindset.  Recent research has examined this directly, examining business people who had breakout results with a new idea or product.  The major thing they shared was a growth mindset.&#8221;
