Great interview – you got so much from her in this one! I love how you spoke about overcoming fear, and how that will lead to joy, despite popular opinion.
Indeed, some call Martha a dreamer, or a fool, but boy, she not only knows the answers, she lives them.
    Thanks to both of you.

Susan, thanks for the feedback. My intent was to get a different information than the other interviews or what a lot of people had already heard. Martha gave great information that I do believe can help people at many different entry points.

Here’s a blog post from a listener – Marilyn who wrote about her takeaway from the interview. I received chills down my arms reading it this morning. http://marilyn.typepad.com/tongueandgroove/2011/01/i-respectfully-do-not-care-martha-beck.html

Thanks, Koren for a wonderful show!

I can’t help but smile when listening to Martha Beck; she’s the BEST!

And the WAY she teaches is a way ALL of us can comprehend – then incorporate into our lives.

Just push off the wall, ya’ll!

@Cowboy Shaman, Martha is incredible and brilliant. She is able to learn a lot of information and then distill it down for the rest of us to understand.

Let me know how you are going to push off the wall.

    smiling,

    Koren

So glad I took the time this morning to listen to this. I loved it, Koren! My favorite stories were your “Just push off the wall and go!” butterfly story, and Martha’s standing behind someone just thinking about a poem and the person saying, “That feels good! That feels good!”

Connecting with our real feelings, and taking the step we’re most afraid to take, are the crux of all the wisdom practices, aren’t they?

Reminds me of this quote from the poet David Whyte:

    “Start close in,
    don’t take the second step
    or the third,
    start with the first
    thing
    close in,
    the step
    you don’t want to take.”

Lisa I got chills reading your post. Your poem was exactly where I was today.

    Koren,

Well, I did it! I pushed off the wall this year by writing, “Mrs. Pennybutton – Teacher of Souls”

“No matter who we are, no matter where we end up on this planet, in the last moments before our birth, we attend a class taught by the wisest teacher of all, Mrs. Pennybutton. During this brief instruction, we learn how ‘life on this planet actually works’ and, too, by following Mrs. Pennybutton’s Gifts of Guidance, we have all that’s required to enjoy the best life imaginable.”

Thanks to you and Martha Beck and all the fine teachers out there who inspire me every moment of every day.

    Dana
